Norman Bridwell

Well here we are at Day 4 of the Author's Study class. Today I learned how to create a Prezi. For those of you that don't know what that is, it is a jazzed up power point. Hope you are impressed with my knowledge of technology!
Today my author is Norman Bridwell. He is famous for Clifford the Big Red Dog series. Before becoming an author Mr. Bridwell tried to illustrate but was turned down several times. One day an editor suggested he try his hand at writing and pointed to a picture he had drawn of a little girl and a big dog. The big dog became Clifford and the little girl was Emily Elizabeth named after his own daughter. The advice Mr. Bridwell gives to young writers is rejection is not a reason to give up. If you like doing something, keep doing it and someday you will succeed. Hope you enjoy reading his stories!

Laura Numeroff

Day 3 of the Author's study and I am surviving. Today my author is Laura Numeroff. She is well-known for her If You Give ... Book series. She loves to ride horses and read biographies.  She was born and raised in New York, but today she lives in California with her pets. She has two sisters that she is very close to. Ms. Numeroff has won several awards for her books starting in 1987. Her book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, was rejected nine times. Boy, I'm glad she didn't give up! Hope you have time to read some of her books.

Eric Carle

It's day 2 and we have been very busy today! I learned how to create a glogster and it was fun! My glogster was on Eric Carle. In creating my glogster, I was able to put a picture of Eric Carle, link to a video, books he had written, fun facts, school and career, and his early years information for viewing. If you love colorful pictures, then Eric Carle is a must on your book list.

Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss is a fun and exciting author for young children. His stories are so outrageous young readers are intrigued by his sense of humor. His illustrations are playful and delightful for all ages. I chose this author because his books are geared toward young readers and because I like the rhythm and rhyme of his books.
